in communities that remain without power. amtrak will offer limited service between new york city and boston today. the new york city subway system is slowly coming back to life. the m-train, which links queens to manhattan actually started running. manhattan remains in the dark. with little mass transit folks are turning to their cars and you know what that means. lots of gas lines. they extend for miles. according to the most recent report from triple-a, of the gas stations it monitors roughly 60% of stations in new jersey and 70% on long island were closed thursday. both of new jersey's senators are now asking president obama for emergency fuel supplies. we do have a presidential campaign to cover. we are in the last 72, 96 hours if you will. the final chapter of the 2012 campaign is now begun and it all comes down, it apparently changed to ohio which president obama and governor romney, ready for this, are going to visit six separate times in the last four days of the break. today is the first day. president obama spends the entire day in ohio. he's got stops in springfield, lima, hillia

and florida a couple of times before wrapping up in boston. we have heard the closing arguments. it is a vote for obama is the status quo with stagnation. a vote for mitt romney is bold change and prosperity. the president made all kinds of promises to be a bipartisan leader and wasn't able to do that with obamacare with not a single republican vote and he promised to restore the economy, bring down the debt, cut taxes, balance the budget, et cetera, and that hasn't happened. he says if the country is behind him and elects him and if democrats are willing to work with him he can militia it and a slap back from the senate saying if mitter harry reid romney has a fantasy of casting severely conservative agenda he will not get help from senate democrats which echoes what the republicans said when president obama took office and now before mitt romney wins, assuming he would, the democrats are saying they will not help. >>shepard: we used to watch the last three or four days of campaign where the candidates spend their money but they have so much money they can spend all they want and now we watc

between new york and boston later today. they are in talks to borrow trains from canada to provide more service to hard hit parts of new jersey and new york. there's progress in new york's flooded subway tunnels. crews are slowly getting the water pumped out. there's still no word on when service through lower manhattan is expected to be up and running. the entire system is running on limited service. >>> the largest marathon in the country, the new york city marathon will go on as planned sunday morning. this has become a big source of controversy. the group in charge says they turned the event into a fund-raiser to help the victims of sandy. some says it trivializes those there. there will be a 20% drop off from last year due to the storm. the thing about the storm, it runs right through manhattan. >> that race. >> that race. that marathon runs right through manhattan, just where the storm ran through. >> i think it goes through owl five burros. a lot of folks think it's a good idea. it makes the people feel good. everything is normal. how about the weather? we love what we are seeing

amtrak will begin offering limited service between new york city and boston. and new jersey transit will also start moving today with limited service. the new york subway system continues to make advances. the "m" train linking queens to manhattan just started running, but there are still no trains running below 34th street where half of manhattan remains in the dark. so the millions of new yorkers who depend on subways, they're now waiting in those long lines for buses. for those who drive into new york city, the lines at city bridges stretched for miles yesterday, enough to make you turn around and just stay home. it's simply not worth it. it will take all day to get in in some cases. in an effort to ease gridlock inside the city, the mayor has ordered all vehicles entering manhattan to have at least three passengers for the rest of the week. there are checkpoints set up on the way into manhattan with cars not meeting the three-person rule, those cars turned away. and you're only beginning to make your way into new york if you're lucky enough to find gas for your cars. about 80% o

now the clear politics poll average has warren up by 4.5. politi politico is up there in boston covering the race. dave, thanks for joining us from politico. >> absolutely. >> let me ask you about that race. it seems like something happened a couple weeks ago. was it the mayor's endorsement and putting all the troops? but that's only 8% of the lector root. what got her on top of the race? >> i think it's women voters that were in brown's camp, still sort of flirting with him this summer in polls moving towards warren, and i talked to some pollsters and voters on the ground today and that's all you hear about on the airwaves, in the messaging. it's all designed to court women voters. some of them declaring themselves independents, although democrats have a big registration advantage up here 3 to 1, but i think if you look inside the polls, that's what's given warren the lead. brown still beats her among independents overall, but he's losing female voters. she has widened the gender gap. >> you're going to have a big turnout. not like jaub of 2010 when he won that first time. here
